
On November 4, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (USSH VNUHCM), held a degree awarding ceremony for newly conferred PhD, Master’s and Bachelor’s graduates across all academic programs.
Prior to the formal ceremony, representatives of the University’s Board of Rectors, faculty leaders, lecturers, and the new PhD, Master’s and Bachelor’s graduates offered flowers at the University’s Traditional Space. The activity reflected deep respect and gratitude to previous generations who laid the intellectual and humanistic foundations that USSH VNUHCM continues to preserve and uphold. In the solemn setting, participants were reminded of their shared responsibility to carry forward these traditions and to contribute to the development of society and the nation.

Addressing the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Ngo Thi Phuong Lan, President of the University, underscored the significance of graduation as both a milestone and a new beginning. She emphasized that the ceremony not only marks the completion of an academic journey but also opens a new chapter defined by knowledge, creativity, and service. “The three core values (Creativity, Leadership, and Responsibility) will remain the foundation for every graduate as they continue to grow and contribute to society,” she noted. Expressing her confidence in the graduating cohort, the President affirmed that the new graduates would carry the image and spirit of the University wherever they go, contributing to a more compassionate and progressive society.

Continuing the program, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Luu Van Quyet, Vice President of the University, extended his congratulations to the graduates and highlighted that the degree awarded represents not only academic achievement but also a commitment to lifelong learning. “In a world that changes every day, today’s knowledge may become outdated tomorrow. What matters most is maintaining a continuous learning mindset and a spirit of progress in all circumstances,” he said. He also encouraged the new PhD, Master’s and Bachelor’s graduates to remain active members of the USSH community, serving as bridges between the University and society and accompanying the institution in future academic, research, and community development initiatives.

Speaking on behalf of the graduates, Huynh Thi Kim Hoa, valedictorian of the Japanese Studies program, expressed her sincere gratitude to the University, lecturers, family, and friends who supported her throughout her academic journey. She shared that studying at USSH not only fostered intellectual growth but also shaped students’ character and outlook on life. “Success does not come solely from talent, but also from perseverance, kindness, and humanistic values,” she remarked.
