USSH VNUHCM Meets with the University of Perugia

On December 1, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (USSH VNUHCM), held a working session with the University of Perugia to discuss expanding cooperation in Italian language education.

Representing the University of Perugia were Prof. Valerio De Cesaris, Rector; Ms. Giovanna Scocozza, Vice Rector for International Relations and Director of the Language Certification Center; Ms. Valentina Seri, Head of External Relations; Ms. Roberta Rondoni, representative of the CELI International Italian Language Certification Center; and Ms. Stefania Scaglione from the Erasmus Center.

On the USSH VNUHCM side, participants included Dr. Phan Thanh Dinh, Vice President; leaders of the Office of External Relations and Research Affairs; representatives of the Faculty of European Languages and Cultures, the Italian Language program; and leaders of the Foreign Language Center.

Speaking at the meeting, Dr. Phan Thanh Dinh expressed his appreciation to the University of Perugia for creating opportunities for USSH students to access scholarships for study in Italy. He noted that these opportunities allow students to gain deeper insights into the Italian language, culture, and people. He also emphasized: “This is a valuable occasion for both institutions to review our cooperation and to continue opening up opportunities for more in-depth and long-term development in the future.”

Dr. Phan Thanh Dinh expressed his hope that more lecturers and students would have opportunities to study at the University of Perugia

Representing the University of Perugia, Prof. Valerio De Cesaris stated that strengthening ties between the two universities would provide students with greater access to international training programs. He also suggested expanding the target group for study-abroad opportunities in Italy, particularly to students who are able to finance their own studies.

Regarding potential cooperation in Italian language proficiency certification, Dr. Le Hong Phuoc shared that the Faculty of European Languages and Cultures would ensure qualified teaching staff and expressed the desire for further in-depth discussions on the development, organization, and issuance of international Italian language certificates.

Dr. Le Hong Phuoc expressed his hope that the two universities would continue expanding exchange programs to reach a wider range of learners

Dr. Hoang Thi Trang shared that there are currently two undergraduate students majoring in Italian Language, two graduate students, and four lecturers from USSH studying at the University of Perugia

The meeting provided an opportunity to promote broader academic and research collaboration and to explore future cooperation in Italian language certification between the two institutions. These efforts aim to develop more effective and comprehensive training programs and quality assurance mechanisms in the years ahead.
