
On November 18, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (USSH, VNU-HCM), held the Vietnam–Germany Friendship Tree-Planting Ceremony at the Thai Garden (Linh Xuan Campus), in celebration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries (1975–2025).
The event was attended by Ms. Andrea Maria Sühl, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Ho Chi Minh City; Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Chairman of the Vietnam–Germany Friendship Association of Ho Chi Minh City. Representing USSH, VNU-HCM were Prof. Dr. Ngo Thi Phuong Lan, President of the University; Dr. Le Hong Phuoc, Head of the Faculty of European Languages and Cultures, along with lecturers and students from the Faculty of German Linguistics and Literature

Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Ngo Thi Phuong Lan highlighted the University’s “Green University” model and acknowledged the valuable support of international partners, including the German Consulate General and the Vietnam–Germany Friendship Association, affirming that the friendship tree-planting event encourages the University’s mission of high-quality human resource training and contributes to strengthening Vietnam–Germany relations.

At the event, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan emphasized the role of cultural and educational exchange in promoting bilateral cooperation, noting that the Vietnam–Germany Friendship Association of Ho Chi Minh City has implemented various initiatives to connect partners, support German-language human resource training, and enhance mutual understanding between the two peoples.
