
On March 29, USSH-VNUHCM marked three decades of its Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU) with "30 Years - The Radiant Days", a celebration coinciding with the 95th anniversary of the HCYU.
The event welcomed Ms. Trinh Thi Hien Tran, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City's HCYU, Chairwoman of Ho Chi Minh City Council of Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneers' Organization; Mr. Phan Quoc Thai, Standing Deputy Secretary of the VNUHCM's HCYU; and various partners. Representing the University were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thi Ngoc Diep, Secretary of the Party Committee; Prof. Dr. Ngo Thi Phuong Lan, President of the University; alongside the Board of Presidents and generations of HCYU and Viet Nam National Union of Students officers.
Pre-ceremony activities featured diverse experiences, including exhibitions, instant photography, and a corner for sending messages and getting autographs.

During the ceremony, delegates and students paid tribute to the "keeping the flame" legacy of successive generations. Since its founding in 1996, the Union has grown into an enduring bridge between knowledge and ideals for generations of students.

Marking this 30-year milestone, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thi Ngoc Diep, Secretary of the University’s Party Committee, urged HCYU members to remain passionate and committed, as they are the ones who will continue to write the university's history in the new era through the spirit of "Creativity - Leadership - Responsibility". Her message serves as both a powerful motivation and a compass for HCYU to strive for excellence.

Mr. Nguyen Huynh Minh Phuc, the Union's current Secretary, traced a through-line from the historic Van khoa and Tong hop student movements to today, noting that patriotism and intellectual ambition remain the Union's defining spirit. He emphasized that these have empowered generations of students to overcome challenges while demonstrating their intellectual aspirations and creativity. He further noted that the close guidance from the Party Committee, the Board of Presidents, and the support of partners have provided a crucial launchpad for the younger generation to confidently navigate global integration.

The event also marked the launch of “Chào thành phố mới", a digital platform mapping Ho Chi Minh City's 168 newly restructured wards and communes, giving residents accessible historical and geographic reference in one place. The project underscores the HCYU’s pioneering role in digital transformation.

In recognition of their sustained efforts, the VNUHCM's HCYU awarded commendations to outstanding collectives and individuals. Flags of Honor went to four units for the 2021-2026 period: the HCYU of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication, the Faculty of Tourism, the Faculty of Geography, and the Faculty of Korean Studies.
