Peking University visits USSH: Connecting academics, spreading knowledge, and expanding international cooperation

On the morning of August 4, 2026, at the Saigon campus, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City joyfully welcomed a delegation from Peking University, China, within the framework of a field research and academic exchange program in Vietnam.
The meeting served as a meaningful academic diplomatic activity, contributing to strengthening the connection between two prestigious higher education institutions, while opening up a space for dialogue, knowledge sharing, and fostering new opportunities for cooperation in training, scientific research, international publications, and academic exchange.
From Nhan Van to Peking - from dialogue to cooperation
In the context where higher education increasingly emphasizes the roles of international cooperation, interdisciplinary approaches, and cross-border academic networking, the working session between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City and Peking University was not just an academic diplomatic meeting, but also an opportunity for both sides to identify shared interests, share experiences in academic development, and explore in-depth cooperation paths in the near future.
Regarding the Peking University side, the delegation consisted of 35 members including professors, associate professors, research specialists, PhD candidates, and students. The main delegates attending the program included:

Open, practical, and promising academic dialogue
Opening the program, representatives of the Faculty of History and International Relations and the Faculty of Philosophy sent their welcomes to the Peking University delegation and provided a general overview of the university's training, research, and international cooperation orientation. The Peking University side also shared about their academic strengths, research networks, training activities, and professional interests during their field research trip in Vietnam.

In a spirit of mutual respect, openness, and co-development, the two sides had in-depth discussions on many issues of practical significance to university cooperation in the new context, notably:
- Promoting scientific research cooperation between lecturers, researchers, and professional units of both schools;
- Enhancing the sharing of experiences in international publishing, developing research groups, and expanding interdisciplinary research directions;
- Connecting academics in the fields of history, international relations, philosophy, political science, economics, management, and area studies;
- Expanding opportunities for exchange between students, learners, PhD candidates, and lecturers, thereby creating conditions for learners to access an international academic environment;
- Exploring possibilities for developing specific cooperation programs, from thematic seminars, academic discussions, and scholar exchanges to joint research activities in the future.
From meeting to long-term cooperation foundation
A highlight of the working session was the atmosphere of discussion, which was approachable yet serious, friendly yet rich in academic substance. The delegates not only introduced their own units but also discussed how to turn commonalities in professional fields into concrete, sustainable, and valuable cooperation activities for both sides.


The meeting also created opportunities for lecturers, researchers, and learners of the two schools to strengthen mutual understanding, expand academic networks, and reflect on the role of social sciences and humanities in promoting dialogue, cooperation, and understanding between academic communities in the region.

Concluding the program, the two sides exchanged souvenirs and took group photos in a friendly atmosphere, marking a meaningful meeting between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City and Peking University.


With the spirit of connecting knowledge - academic dialogue - cooperation for co-development, the working session contributed to expanding the international cooperation relations of the university, while laying the foundation for practical collaborative activities in training, research, and academic exchange in the coming time.
