The Faculty of Information and Management, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City has officially launched a master's degree program in Information Studies, marking a significant development in the Faculty's postgraduate training activities.

The launch of this major affirms the pioneering role of the Faculty of Information and Management as it becomes the first unit among higher education institutions with Information – Library training programs in Vietnam to implement a master's program in Information Studies. This is also a strategic step to meet the increasing demand for high-quality human resources with in-depth expertise in information, data, digital content, and information system management within the context of digital transformation.

Objectives of the training program

The master's training program in Information Studies aims to provide learners with in-depth theoretical knowledge and research methods in the information field; developing the capacity to analyze, manage, and innovate activities related to digital content, data, and information systems in a digital environment.

The program is built on an interdisciplinary foundation, combining information science, management science, business, information technology, and data science, thereby helping learners develop both research and professional competencies. Upon completion of the program, learners will be able to:

  • Conduct systematic and directed research in the information field;

  • Analyze, manage, and innovate activities related to information, data, digital content, and information systems;

  • Apply in-depth knowledge and methods to solve practical problems in agencies, organizations, and businesses;

  • Continue to study and research at the doctoral level;

  • Adapt to the rapid development of science, technology, and the information field;

  • Form professional consciousness, ethics, and a sense of responsibility to meet sustainable professional development requirements.

Admission requirements

Applicants must hold a university degree or higher equivalent in the correct or relevant field, or a near-field or other field according to current regulations.

The master's degree program in Information Studies aims to develop human resources with in-depth knowledge and capacity for research, analysis, design, management, exploitation, and development of information systems, data, and digital content.

The launch of the master's program in Information Studies not only expands learning and professional development opportunities for students but also demonstrates the innovative capacity, development vision, and pioneering role of the Faculty of Information and Management in training high-quality human resources for the information sector in Vietnam.
