Faculty of History and International Relations visits and works with the Consulate General of the Lao People's Democratic Republic in Ho Chi Minh City.

On the morning of September 29, 2026, the Faculty of History and International Relations, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City visited and worked at the Consulate General of the Lao People's Democratic Republic in Ho Chi Minh City. The meeting took place in a cordial and open atmosphere. The meeting demonstrated the traditional friendly relations between the two sides and opened up many new prospects for cooperation in the field of education and training.
The delegation included Dr. Nguyen Tang Nghi, Dean; Dr. Nguyen Vu Ky, Vice Dean; and Ms. Nguyen Lena, Faculty Secretary. On the side of the Lao Consulate General, the delegation was received by Mr. Phonesy Bounmixay, Consul General, and Ms. Thong Louane Khaosaat, Consul in charge of education.
At the meeting, Dr. Nguyen Tang Nghi extended his respectful greetings to the Consul General and all staff of the Consulate General. The Dean introduced the Faculty's undergraduate and master's training programs, along with scholarship opportunities for Lao students.
Emphasizing the bridging role of the diplomatic mission, Dr. Nguyen Tang Nghi expressed his wish for the Lao Consulate General to become an effective connection channel between the two sides. This channel will contribute to strengthening track-two diplomacy activities and promoting deeper cooperation between the Faculty and the Consulate General in the field of education and training. The Dean also proposed many specific cooperation activities, including inviting Lao researchers to participate in academic exchange activities organized by the Faculty.
In response, Mr. Phonesy Bounmixay thanked the Faculty of History and International Relations for visiting and sharing practical information about study opportunities for Lao students. The Consul General also thanked the Faculty for training high-quality human resources for Laos over the past many years. Many alumni are currently working and holding important positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and many other agencies in Laos.
The Consul General highly appreciated the prestige and brand of the Faculty as well as the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in the southern region. This reputation is reflected in the training of International Relations in particular and the field of social sciences and humanities in general. Based on the tradition of training Lao students, the Consul General wishes for the Faculty to continue promoting its role as a focal point so that more and more Lao students can come to study. He also hopes that the Faculty will strengthen the connection between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and universities in Laos in the coming time. The Consul General affirmed that the Consulate General will create all favorable conditions to promote cooperation activities, and the Consulate General is also ready to accompany the Faculty and the University during the implementation process.
Over the past years, the former Faculty of International Relations, now the Faculty of History and International Relations, has maintained a strong bond with Laos through the training of many generations of Lao students. This visit continues and enriches that fine tradition, while further promoting educational cooperation between the two sides in the future.
