USSH Co-organizes Training Workshop: “Modern Library and Information Services and AI Application Skills in Academic Support and Research”

On September 8 and 9, 2025, following the Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) on library cooperation, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH, VNU-HCM) collaborated with several partner units to co-organize the workshop: “Modern Library and Information Services and AI Application Skills in Academic Support and Research.” This significant initiative aimed to share expertise, update knowledge, and enhance the capacity to apply emerging technologies, ultimately improving the quality of library services in support of training and research.

The program was organized against the backdrop of rapid digital transformation, where the effective utilization of modern information services and AI applications has become an urgent necessity for universities. Building upon the Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) signed between domestic libraries—focusing on collaborative training, professional expertise sharing, information resource development, and staff capacity building—the Center for Information, Library, and Museum (CILM) at USSH, VNU-HCM collaborated with a network of partner institutions to implement this specialized training. Partner organizations included the libraries of HCM City University of Technology and Education; HCM City Open University; HCM City University of Culture; Dong Nai University of Technology; Van Hien University; HCM City University of Foreign Languages and Information Technology (HUFLIT); Dong A University; and University of Economics and Law (VNU-HCM). The curriculum provided in-depth content focused on modern library services and AI application skills to bolster academic support and research.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Le Hoang Dung, Vice President of USSH, VNU-HCM, emphasized the role of the library as a vital space for connecting knowledge between researchers and learners. He stated that the training program was not only an opportunity for library staff to update their knowledge and skills but also a chance for institutions to engage in open sharing of expertise. This collaboration, he noted, would lead to practical and long-term efficiency in both training and research activities.

Within the framework of the program, the role of faculty members and staff becomes increasingly vital as they directly engage in training sessions on the skills and professional expertise needed to support learners in effectively utilizing digital, electronic, and internal academic resources. Beyond merely conveying technical skills, these educators serve as a bridge, enabling students to access knowledge in an accessible and user-friendly manner. This effort ultimately aims to optimize intellectual resources to serve the nation's development.
