On the afternoon of September 10, 2025, a working session was held at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH, VNU-HCM) between the Center for Information, Library, and Museum (CILM) and representatives from Emerald Publishing and iGroup Vietnam regarding the introduction of the Emerald database and the publisher’s policies.
During the meeting, Ms. Serena Tsai – Publishing Manager and Representative of Emerald Publishing for Taiwan and Vietnam – introduced Emerald’s extensive system of journals and e-books, recognized as one of the world's leading academic publishers. This database covers many critical research areas, including social sciences and humanities such as education, public policy, sociology, anthropology, library and information science, environment, and sustainable development. These fields are closely aligned with the university's academic programs and research priorities.
In addition to showcasing the catalog and academic strengths of the database, the publisher's representative presented policies for providing and accessing electronic resources tailored for the higher education sector. Special emphasis was placed on the flexibility of service packages and the potential for expanding access rights.

During the exchange with representatives from Emerald Publishing and iGroup, Ms. Bui Thu Hang – Director of CILM – emphasized the University's need to expand high-quality international resources while ensuring continuous and stable access. She also raised several inquiries regarding collective purchasing policies, terms of use, copyright requirements, and usage statistics tracking. Furthermore, she proposed a trial access period for the database to evaluate the actual needs of the University's users.
The working session has opened up opportunities to strengthen cooperation between CILM, Emerald Publishing, and iGroup in providing high-quality international materials. This collaboration will significantly support the learning, research, and teaching activities of faculty and students at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-HCM, in the coming time.
