Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Thi Hong Xuan visits and works with Chinese partners: Connecting AI technology with smart urban development and Vietnam-China cultural exchange

From June 9 to 11, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Thi Hong Xuan, Director of the Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities, Director of the Vietnam and Southeast Asia Research Center, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-HCM, visited China at the invitation of Guangxi Huagongda Technology Development Co., Ltd. This company, located at the Science and Technology Park of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, organized the international event "China AI Development and Application" in Wuhan, Hubei Province.
As part of the program, on the morning of June 9, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Thi Hong Xuan visited the AI and biotechnology innovation space at Hubei Youth Pioneer Park, where advanced technological inventions for urban residents are showcased and tested. Notable inventions include a specialized vacuum cleaner for salon chairs and new-generation robots capable of performing various functions such as guiding tourists and providing healthcare.
The delegation was received by Mr. Tu Kiet, Chairman of the Board, Mrs. Hung Dao, Director of the Business Incubation Center, Mr. Thai Nghi, General Director of Wuhan Creative Technology, and Mrs. Ly Man, General Director of Huandao Biotechnology, Wuhan.
During the meeting, both sides discussed enhancing the connection between AI technology and social sciences, especially in urban studies, community governance, and cultural preservation within the context of digital transformation. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Thi Hong Xuan shared the university's direction of building a Digital Humanities project by 2030, aimed at implementing AI for all faculty and students, and expressed the desire to apply technological achievements such as artificial intelligence, big data, and smart devices in research and sustainable urban development in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

In the afternoon, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Thi Hong Xuan had a working session with Hualong IoT Company (华隆物联), a pioneering enterprise in China specializing in supply chain management software and supermarket operations. The company provides comprehensive technological solutions for the retail system, including product tracking, consumer behavior analysis, and integration of warehouse, transportation, and real-time sales systems.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Thi Hong Xuan praised Hualong's smart technology model, especially the capability to develop local software that can be applied in complex retail environments, one of the areas Vietnam is focusing on in the context of comprehensive digital transformation.
Mr. Wang Anxin, a representative of Hualong's leadership, emphasized the development of IoT solutions combined with AI to build flexible, accurate, and optimized supply chains, supporting large retail corporations in minimizing risks, improving management efficiency, and creating modern, convenient consumer experiences.

Additionally, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Thi Hong Xuan was invited to experience autonomous vehicles, whose increasing use in urban areas signifies the growing realization of a driverless smart transportation ecosystem. The trip not only promoted professional collaboration between social sciences, humanities, and science and technology scholars but also served as a profound cultural exchange between the two countries, opening new pathways for applying AI in the humanities to enhance urban living quality and sustainable social development in the modern era.
