University of Social Sciences and Humanities Promotes Educational Support for Primary School Students in Ta Lai Commune

On January 17, 2026, at the Cultural House of Ta Lai Commune, Dong Nai Province, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH), Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM), in coordination with the Dong Nai Provincial Forest Protection Department, the People’s Committee of Ta Lai Commune, and relevant local partners, organized a charitable program to present 100 gift packages to underprivileged students in the area in preparation for the Lunar New Year.
The activity formed part of a broader series of community-oriented and social welfare initiatives targeting students living in forest-adjacent and environmentally vulnerable areas. Although modest in material value, the gift packages carried significant symbolic meaning, reflecting care, solidarity, and social responsibility toward disadvantaged pupils, while encouraging them to continue their education with renewed motivation and confidence.
Beyond the distribution of gifts, the program incorporated environmental education and forest protection awareness activities, aiming to strengthen students’ understanding of biodiversity conservation and sustainable resource use. Interactive exchanges, educational games, and storytelling sessions on nature and wildlife protection were conducted, emphasizing the close relationship between local livelihoods and forest ecosystems in Ta Lai Commune.

Notably, a portion of the program’s funding was contributed by members involved in the CAFSUS project. This contribution helped expand the scope of the initiative and ensured broader support for students in need, demonstrating the project’s commitment to social engagement, sustainability, and community-based development beyond academic research activities.
Representatives of the Dong Nai Forest Protection Department highlighted that while each gift was small in scale, the educational and moral values conveyed through the program were substantial, particularly for children growing up in forest-edge communities where environmental stewardship plays a critical role in long-term socio-ecological resilience.
The program received strong support from local authorities, educators, students, and project partners of USSH – VNU-HCM, reaffirming the university’s mission to integrate academic knowledge with community service and sustainable development, especially in rural and environmentally sensitive regions.
