On the morning of December 29, 2019, at the Van Khoa Hall (USSH, VNU-HCM), the "11th Festival of History" was organized by the Association of History Science, Ho Chi Minh City. As one of the four branches of the Association of History Science, Ho Chi Minh City at the university, Faculty of History’s branch registered a large number of members attending the festival.

In 2019, the Historical Science Association of the University's Faculty of History has contributed to the general activities of the Ho Chi Minh City Association of History Science in many fields, including: scientific research and technology development; consultation, assessment, and social criticism, international cooperation; media, newspapers and publishing.

This year's Historical Festival has attracted the participation of hundreds of members, delegates and guests from Historical Science Branches of other provinces Also at the festival, the book "Southern Land and People" (episode XIV) by Prof. Dr. Vo Van Sen (Editor) published by Ho Chi Minh City National University Publishing House in 2019 was launched. The book launch aims to disseminate knowledge of history, culture, heritage preservation... of the research works of some branches and members.

Also in this year's Historical Festival, there were many scholarships granting to students with good academic achievements in history, cultural heritage from 4 universities, namely University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Pedagogical University, University of Culture and Saigon University.

The scientific discussion activities of the Association are associated with many practical issues in the research, teaching, commemoration of events, historical figures ... This year, the Historical Festival 2019’s theme is "Achievements in research on islands in the Southern region and Vietnam". Ass. Prof. Dr. Ha Minh Hong - Head Of The Association of Historical Science (Faculty of History) gave a speech on "Research on islands in the Southern region and Vietnam- The current situation and prospects". Mr. Nguyen Tuan Khanh (Southern Island Researcher of the Association of History Science) presented the topic "From China's "Slick Expansion" to "Grey Area Strategy" in the Biển Đông (East Sea)". The discussions not only met the interests of members about sovereignty of Vietnam's islands in recent years; but also contributed to the work of research agencies in the country, using scientific works to consolidate sacred, inviolable sovereignty to islands, archipelagos, waters and exclusive economic zones of Vietnam in the East Sea.

Founded in 1987, Ho Chi Minh City Association of History Science has over 30 years of establishment and development. During the process, the Association has achieved many important achievements, increasingly demonstrating the role and position of a professional association of historians not only in Ho Chi Minh City but also in the southern provinces. Many branches and members of the Association have made contributions to historical scientific research activities in the city, the Southern region as well as the country. In addition, Association of History Science also has many activities to replicate and promote the activities of the Association as well as improve the love of history and national traditions among members, students and students. Historical Festival of Ho Chi Minh City Association of History Science has become an annual activity, truly a festival of historical researchers who are interested in the history of the nation.
