Call for papers: Conference "Interdisciplinary Approaches to Studying Climate Change Vulnerability and Resilience in Vietnam's Coastal Areas"

In order to achieve the University's strategic goal of increasing the number of internationally published articles and improving the quality of publications and proceedings for conferences, the following (new) conference program, organized by the Center, has been approved by the University's Board of Directors:

Vietnamese Conference Title: Tiếp cận liên ngành trong nghiên cứu tính dễ tổn thương và khả năng chống chịu biến đổi khí hậu tại các vùng ven biển Việt Nam.

English Conference Title: Interdisciplinary Approaches to Studying Climate Change Vulnerability and Resilience in Vietnam's Coastal Areas.

1. TIME, VENUE, AND FORMAT

  • Expected Date: Friday, December 27, 2024;
  • Venue: Management and Administration Building, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-HCM, Linh Trung Ward, Thủ Đức City, Ho Chi Minh City.
  • Format: In-person.

2. POST-CONFERENCE PUBLICATIONS

  1. Printed Book: A book with an international ISBN will be published by GENERIS PUBLISHING (to be published post-conference).
  2. Ebook: The book, once published, will be available for sale on global platforms such as Amazon, Bokus, and Barnes & Noble.
  3. Publication Support (subject to fee): The conference organizers will offer English translation, editing, and proofreading services upon request.

3. CONFERENCE CONTENT FOCUSES ON THE FOLLOWING TOPICS

  • Theoretical issues related to livelihoods, livelihood risks, livelihood models, and climate change adaptation;
  • Research methods, evaluation criteria, assessment indicators, models, and scientific and technological applications in livelihood adaptation to climate change, and reducing coastal disaster risks;
  • Interdisciplinary theories on livelihoods, livelihood vulnerability, livelihood models, and climate change adaptation;
  • International experiences in ensuring livelihood security in the context of climate change: impact assessments, solution initiatives, and lessons learned;
  • Current status of livelihood vulnerability assessments and climate change adaptation in Vietnam, including local conditions, policy mechanisms, initiatives, and projects/programs aimed at enhancing community resilience;
  • Socio-economic conditions, environmental resources in Vietnam's coastal areas: identifying challenges, assessing resources, and evaluating adaptive capacity;
  • Other related issues concerning livelihoods, livelihood vulnerability, and climate change in Vietnam's coastal and island regions.

4. PAPER SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

  • Deadline for abstract and full paper submissions: Before November 30, 2024.

Participants eligible for submission:

  • Researchers, managers, experts, policymakers, lecturers, researchers, graduate students, and doctoral candidates from universities and research institutes nationwide, and individuals interested in the conference's theme.

Submission Format:

  • Language: Vietnamese or English.
  • Format: Manuscripts should be typed on one side of A4 paper (210 x 297 mm), in Times New Roman (Unicode), font size 13, with margins of 3 cm (left), 2 cm (right), 2.5 cm (top), and 2.5 cm (bottom), including images, with 1.5 line spacing.
  • Submission to the Organizing Committee should include: Title, Abstract (150-200 words), Keywords (3-5 words), and Full Paper (no more than 7,000 words, excluding references).
  • Citations should follow the “Regulations on Citation and Anti-Plagiarism” as per Decision No. 03/QĐ-XHNV-TTPC-SHTT dated January 23, 2024, issued by the Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-HCM (see attached Appendix).
  • Submissions must be original and not published in books, journals, or other conference proceedings. All submissions will undergo a peer review process conducted by the Scientific Council.
