In South Korea, Dr. Le Thi Hong Minh, a lecturer from the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies, is bringing engaging Vietnamese language lectures to students at the Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, focusing not only on language but also on rich cultural identity. In her Vietnamese classes, besides students from the Faculty of Vietnamese Language, students from various other faculties such as Economic Law, International Relations, Economics, Business Administration, etc., also participate. They consider Vietnamese an important communication tool for their future work environment. The curriculum includes lessons on Vietnamese culture and society, such as traffic in Vietnam, the Hoi An ancient town – a world cultural heritage site, how Vietnamese people name themselves based on the patrilineal system, components in Vietnamese names, Vietnamese family meals, or Vietnamese proverbs and idioms, etc. Using PowerPoint, she has introduced many images of the country, people, culture, and society of Vietnam, featuring famous landscapes and unique dishes. Through this interesting knowledge, students not only understand the language better but also gain a deeper insight into Vietnamese customs and cultural identity. The integration of Vietnamese language and culture teaching by Dr. Le Thi Hong Minh has contributed to building a cultural bridge between the two countries, helping students in the land of Kimchi to further love and respect Vietnamese culture, while equipping them with a solid linguistic foundation to serve their future careers.
