The teaching and learning facilities and equipment

Basically, the University’s facilities and equipment for teaching and learning have satisfied the students’ needs of learning and research quite well. Over the years, the University has made improvements and invested in the development of infrastructure and equipment for teaching and learning, for instance buildings to meet the needs of education and research.

Regarding working space, the total working area of the Faculty of History at Dinh Tien Hoang campus is 112.5 m2, including the FH building (82.5 m2) and the internal library (30 m2).

The FH is reasonably arranged with a few distinct areas: the office for the academic assistants and the Dean’s secretary; the Dean’s office and a conference room. The FH requires a duty staff present at the Faculty Office for the Board of Deans and an officer to directly and quickly solve problems related to teaching and learning, as well as receive visitors who contact for work. The Faculty building is provided with bulletin boards to post the necessary information. The Faculty office is arranged with filing cabinets for the archives.

The Faculty office has three desktop computers with internet connection. Two are used by the academic assistants and the secretary, and one by the Board of Deans; some other devices are 02 printers (01 for the academic assistant team, the secretary and the other for the Board of Deans), 01 photocopier, 01 projector and 02 scanners.

In general, the aforementioned facilities meet the needs of the administration and archiving.

The internal library is a private space just for the use by the Faculty members. It is equipped with a number of devices as follows: 01 computer, 01 printer, 01 scanner.

In general, the aforementioned equipment can effectively serve the administration, archiving and preservation of documents of the FH, basically meeting the needs of lecturers and students for education and research.

Before the academic year 2017-2018, the University had two campuses for students: the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year students learn at Campus 2 (Linh Trung campus - Thu Duc District) with a total area of 23 hectares; and the 4th year students at Campus 1 (Dinh Tien Hoang campus) with a total area of 1.2 hectares. Depending on the learning needs of each subject and each class, the University can accommodate the number of students enrolled from 15 to 200 students. Classrooms are equipped with lights, fans, speakers, microphones and projectors for the learning and teaching activities according to different learning needs.

From the academic year 2018-2019, the University only has allocated a learning environment for students on Campus 2 in Linh Trung - Thu Duc. Currently, this area satisfies students’ learning and living needs quite well. Specifically, the average land area is 15.8 m2/student; the average ratio of floor area for learning is 3.4 m2/student; the average floor area ratio of classrooms reaches 1.5 m2/student.

The procedure for registering to use the classrooms is as follows: 1) The Faculty bases on the training plan to make a schedule and send it to the Office of Undergraduate Affairs; 2) This office then coordinates with the Office of Facilities and Equipment Management and the Management Board of Thu Duc campus to make arrangements and inform the Faculty. The frequency of using classrooms on Thu Duc campus is estimated at 70% of the maximum capacity (each classroom is used for 6 hours per day).

In addition to the classroom, Thu Duc campus has a multi-purpose sports centre, a relatively large “learning garden”, and a fully equipped self-study room meeting the students’ self-study needs.

Fundamentally, the Faculty is provided with essential equipment and facilities in respect to education and research, meeting the requirements and orientation of the University.
