CAFSUS Project – Scientific Reading Club on Environment and Sustainable Development

In an effort to enhance research capacity and disseminate scientific knowledge, the Center for Marine and Climate Change Research under the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM), in collaboration with scholars from the University of Sydney and the University of Copenhagen, has launched a scientific reading club as part of the CAFSUS project (Climate Change Mitigation in Agricultural and Forestry Land Use through Sustainable Development Policies).

The program is held biweekly on Wednesdays, starting from February 2025. Sessions are conducted via Google Meet and involve in-depth discussions and critical analyses of peer-reviewed articles on topics such as climate change, global environmental governance, global agri-food value chains, and other related subjects.

The primary objective of this initiative is to strengthen doctoral researchers’ abilities to critically read and analyze scientific literature. It aims to foster a deeper understanding of global value chains and environmental governance systems throughout these chains. By enhancing access to, and the application of, cutting-edge research findings, the program contributes to participants’ academic development and research excellence.

Moreover, the scientific reading club offers an important platform for CAFSUS project researchers to engage with the latest scholarship and to exchange ideas with leading experts in the field of environmental and sustainability studies.
