Artificial Intelligence – A Catalyst for Innovation in Finance and Banking
On May 13, 2025, the 22nd International Seminar on Business and Management (INSYMA) was successfully held at Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City (BUH) under the theme:
“Applying Artificial Intelligence to Create Competitive Advantage in Finance and Banking.”
The conference brought together more than 1,000 delegates, including scientists, experts, lecturers, and students from various countries and regions.

The seminar was co-hosted by BUH, Surabaya University (Indonesia), the Center for Youth Science and Technology Development, and the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam – Southeast Asia Friendship Association, reflecting a strong commitment to regional academic cooperation amid the profound transformation driven by Artificial Intelligence (AI) across economic and social sectors.
In his opening address, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Đức Trung, Rector of BUH, emphasized:
“AI is no longer just a supporting tool—it has become a strategic factor in optimizing processes, increasing productivity, and enabling the creation of new business models in the finance and banking sector.”
During the seminar, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Thị Hồng Xuân—President of the Vietnam – Southeast Asia Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh City, Director of the Institute for Social Sciences and Humanities (ISSH), University of Social Sciences and Humanities – VNU-HCM—remarked:
“INSYMA is not only a forum for science and technology but also an interdisciplinary space to promote AI for sustainable development, innovation, and regional capacity-building. The active participation of social science researchers in this high-tech conference proves the value of interdisciplinary thinking in the digital era.”

Notably, researchers from the Vietnam – Southeast Asia Friendship Association, the Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies, and ISSH contributed three scholarly presentations with both theoretical and practical significance:

This paper analyzes the digital transformation of Vietnamese higher education through AI applications in academic governance, training, and research, and proposes an interdisciplinary model tailored to local conditions and informed by international experience. -

“Application of Artificial Intelligence in Public Space Design and Urban Planning in Ho Chi Minh City: Opportunities and Challenges”
This research explores the intersection of technology and urban planning, assessing the potential of AI in designing public spaces in HCMC, while identifying policy barriers and the need for institutional capacity-building. -
MSc. Hoàng Sơn Giang
“Digital Transformation in the Exploitation of Traditional Performing Arts for Tourism Development in Vietnam”
The paper addresses how digital technologies can aid in preserving and commercializing traditional performing arts—such as hát bội, chèo, and water puppetry—to enhance cultural tourism and promote national identity in the digital economy.

INSYMA 2025 stood out not only as a leading regional academic forum but also as a platform for strengthening ties between universities, research institutes, and businesses in applying AI toward sustainable development.
