CAFSUS project - participating in the training workshop on Scientific Writing, and Publication

PhD Candidate Trần Thị Thùy Hương participated in the Workshop
Within the framework of activities aimed at enhancing research capacity and promoting international scientific publication, doctoral candidates under the CAFSUS project actively participated in an intensive training course on data collection methods, scientific writing, and international publication. The training took place from March 15 to 18, 2025, and was organized by the Center for Leadership Development (VNU-LEAD), Vietnam National University – Ho Chi Minh City.
The course was directly instructed by Professor Dr. Nguyễn Văn Tuấn, a top 1% most-cited scientist globally, currently affiliated with the University of Technology Sydney (Australia). With his dedicated, evidence-based, and up-to-date guidance, the professor not only provided foundational knowledge but also shared practical techniques and invaluable experiences in constructing, writing, and publishing scientific papers according to international standards.
During the training, CAFSUS doctoral candidates were exposed to a comprehensive and in-depth lecture series covering a wide range of topics, including the IMRaD structure of scientific papers, abstract writing, presentation of results, discussion strategies, and the selection of appropriate journals for submission. Additionally, the course offered detailed guidance on the use of support tools such as ChatGPT for idea development and manuscript drafting, thereby enhancing the efficiency and quality of scientific output.

In the thematic session on data collection methods, participants received specific instruction on survey questionnaire design, sample size estimation, and ensuring the reliability of data for research in the social and environmental sciences.
Over four days of intensive study, participants actively engaged in academic discussions with the instructor and peers from diverse disciplinary backgrounds. The course functioned not only as a knowledge-sharing platform but also as an opportunity to establish interdisciplinary academic networks, fostering collaboration and promoting a culture of rigorous, internationally-aligned research.

The participation of CAFSUS doctoral candidates significantly contributed to improving their research and publication skills, supporting the development of high-quality scientific outputs aligned with the project’s overarching goal: to analyze and promote sustainable coffee value chains in the context of rising international environmental requirements, particularly the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).
For the CAFSUS doctoral researchers, this training served as a critical stepping-stone towards achieving international publication and amplifying the academic impact of the project in global scientific forums.
