Ceremony of receiving donated books from the International Buddhist Material Translation Center and Vinh Nghiem Buddhist Bookstore at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-HCM
On the afternoon of July 22, 2025, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNUHCM, solemnly held a Book Reception Ceremony at Room D102, Dinh Tien Hoang Campus, to receive donations from the International Buddhist Material Translation Center and Vinh Nghiem Buddhist Bookstore. The ceremony was attended by University leaders, representatives of the sponsoring organizations, invited delegates, and specialized staff.
Representing the sponsors were Most Venerable Dr. Thich Van Loi, Vice Director of the International Buddhist Material Translation Center, and Ms. Nguyen Lam Tuyen, representative of the Vinh Nghiem Buddhist Bookstore (Southern region). Representing the University were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Luu Van Quyet, Vice President; Ms. Bui Thu Hang, Director of the Center for Information, Library and Museum (CILM); along with representatives from various affiliated offices, institutes, and centers.
At the ceremony, the University was honored to receive 1,000 books with a total value of over 92 million VND. These are precious documents on Buddhist teachings, ethics, and spiritual life, which will be distributed to Cao Lanh Prison (Dong Thap Province) and disadvantaged localities through two meaningful community projects: "The Library of Love" and "Reading with Cyclos," managed by CILM.
Speaking at the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Luu Van Quyet expressed his deep gratitude to the donors and affirmed that receiving these books is not only of material value but also an expression of social responsibility, spreading humanistic values and contributing to the development of reading culture within the community.
The ceremony was a highly significant activity, demonstrating the sustainable partnership between the University and religious-cultural organizations in the journey of serving knowledge, developing the community, and building a sustainable learning society.
