Invitation to Apply: 2025 Adaptive Design for Learning (ADL)

2025 Adaptive Design for Learning (ADL)

Professional Certificate Course

We are pleased to announce that the 2025 Adaptive Design for Learning (ADL) is now open for application. ADL is a professional online certificate course designed by the Ateneo de Manila Institute for the Science and Art of Learning and Teaching (SALT Institute), with support from the United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia (United Board).

Covering a period of 12 weeks, the ADL will run from 18 August to 19 November 2025. This online course aims to equip educators with principles, strategies, and tools for designing online courses, while allowing them to work at their own pace.  Participants will specially revisit their course design and facilitation practices in the context of Generative AI: reconsidering the relevance of course goals, revisiting assessment practices, and considering new approaches for active and interactive learning.

A total of 50 seats are available in the 2025 cohort. Priority will be given to institutions that have not sent any or had only one faculty member in a previous cohort. To help with the selection, “first come, first serve” may apply.

Modality

·     Asynchronous (semi self-paced) Modules

Modules will be published at least one week prior to the schedule indicated in the study guide. Participants will participate in individual discussion forums.

·     Synchronous Webinars

The synchronous webinars will feature experts who will present key ideas on topics aligned to the asynchronous modules. Each will last for two hours (4:00-6:00 PM Hong Kong/Philippine Time).

There will also be a synchronous session for the sharing of Action Plan ideas on 19 November (4:00-7:00 PM HKT/PHT).

Course Completion

Participants will receive a certificate of completion based on their: (a) submission of all assignments, including an action plan; and (b) attendance of 4 out of 6 synchronous sessions, and session 7 which is for presenting the final assignment.

Procedures and Criteria

·     Each institution may nominate 2 faculty members who are engaged in online/hybrid teaching or designing courses for such modalities.

·     The faculty members are proficient in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in English.

·     The faculty members are committed to completing the course and sharing their learning with their colleagues.

·     The faculty members must be endorsed by the institution’s head or their designated official. The nomination or endorsement letter should be sent to Ms. Jane Chan at jchan@unitedboard.org on or before 10 August.
