Center for Information – Library and Museum Delegation attends ICLISSP 2025 and expands cooperation with Quy Nhon University
From August 20 to 22, 2025, a delegation from the Center for Information, Library and Museum (CILM) of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNUHCM, led by Dr. Bui Thu Hang – Director - and Mr. Vu Nguyen Anh – Vice Director, attended the International Conference on Information Science, Library, and Publishing (ICLISSP 2025). The event was held at the International Centre for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE) in Quy Nhon Nam ward, Gia Lai province.
ICLISSP 2025 was organized by the "Rencontres du Vietnam" Science Association in collaboration with ICISE. The conference gathered over 150 delegates, including scientists, policymakers, managers, PhD candidates, and graduate students from 11 countries.
The conference focused on key areas: information science, digital libraries, open science, electronic publishing, and user services in the digital age. Notably, two specialized training workshops addressed high-interest topics:
- Promoting international integration for Vietnamese scientific journals.
- The application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in library operations.
ICLISSP 2025 served as an interdisciplinary forum for presenting research results, sharing experiences, and discussing trends, challenges, and solutions within the context of globalization and digital transformation.
The conference played a vital role in expanding international networks, fostering innovation, and enhancing the capacity of participating institutions. It also provided an opportunity for Vietnamese academic libraries to update their management and scholarly publishing practices, aiming to elevate scientific journals to international standards (ISI, Scopus).
Furthermore, on the afternoon of August 22, following the conference's closing session, the CILM delegation held a working meeting with the Quy Nhon University Library. Both parties discussed potential collaborations and agreed on preliminary orientations for a formal partnership between USSH, VNUHCM and Quy Nhon University. Key areas of cooperation include:
- Database Sharing: Sharing access to internal institutional databases via IP addresses or dedicated accounts.
- Resource Development: Coordinating the acquisition of electronic resources through a library consortium model (if applicable).
- Inter-library Services: Providing and sharing information resources through inter-library loan services.
- Communications: Jointly promoting collaborative activities to users via library websites.
- Technical Processing: Sharing cataloging and bibliographic data.
- Surveys and Evaluation: Collaborating on user needs surveys and assessing document usage efficiency to refine future cooperation strategies.
- Professional Exchange: Implementing experience-sharing programs, professional consultancy, and facilitating staff participation in short-term training courses organized by both sides.
This mission allowed CILM to not only broaden its international perspective but also lay the foundation for practical cooperation in library science and scholarly publishing. These efforts contribute significantly to enhancing the University's reputation within the regional and global scientific communities.
