On August 22, 2025, a seminar on "Application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in supporting the teaching of STEM subjects" was successfully held at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH), VNU-HCM. The event was part of the activities of the Association of Southeast Asian Teacher Education Universities (AsTEN) at the university in 2025. The seminar attracted around 30 lecturers and graduate students interested in innovating teaching methods.
The seminar featured Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pongprapan Pongsophon from the Faculty of Education, Kasetsart University, Thailand, as the training expert.
Content and Objectives of the Seminar
The seminar was organized with the aim of updating trends in the application of AI in education, specifically in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) subjects. The program sought to equip lecturers with the necessary skills to use AI tools for designing lessons, learning materials, building simulations, and supporting learners.
The seminar content was divided into four main parts:

Part 1: The Overall Picture - AI in STEM Education: This section introduced the role of AI in the digital transformation of education and global trends in applying AI to teach and learn STEM subjects.

Part 2: Introduction and Hands-on Experience with AI Tools for STEM: Lecturers were introduced to and gained experience with various AI tools, including:

AI for in-depth content design: ChatGPT, Claude, Notion AI.

AI for simulation, visualization, and calculation: PhET Interactive Simulations, Algodoo, Wolfram Alpha, GeoGebra AI, MathGPT.

AI for generating technical images and mind maps: DALL-E, Canva AI, Mindmap AI.

Part 3: Building an AI-Integrated Lesson Model: This part provided guidance on how to plan lessons that integrate AI, analyze real-world teaching scenarios, and develop model lessons.

Part 4: Group Discussion and Implementation Proposals: Lecturers had the opportunity to discuss by subject (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, IT, etc.) to share challenges, advantages, and propose long-term solutions for applying AI.
The seminar "Application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in supporting the teaching of STEM subjects" was a resounding success and highly praised by participants. The program not only provided theoretical knowledge about the role and trends of AI in STEM education but also offered practical, hands-on experience with various AI tools. Lecturers and graduate students had the opportunity to practice directly, design teaching scenarios that apply AI, and discuss the challenges and opportunities of integrating AI into their teaching.
The presence of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pongprapan Pongsophon from Kasetsart University, Thailand, as the training expert added significant value to the seminar. The content presented was highly applicable, helping participants better understand tools like ChatGPT, Wolfram Alpha, and GeoGebra AI, and learn how to effectively build an AI-integrated lesson model.
Overall, the seminar achieved its set objectives of equipping lecturers with skills and providing opportunities to share experiences on applying AI in STEM teaching, contributing to the promotion of innovative teaching methods at the university.
