Workshop on AI Application in Assisting Lecturers with Lesson Design

On the morning of August 22, 2025, the Faculty of Education at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH), VNU-HCM, successfully organized a workshop on "The Application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Assisting Lecturers with Lesson and Learning Material Design." The event, part of the annual plan of the ASEAN Teacher Education Network (AsTEN), attracted around 30 attendees, including lecturers and other interested participants.

The workshop was designed to equip lecturers with foundational knowledge and practical skills for applying AI in their teaching. Dr. Le Duy Tan, a specialist from the International University, VNU-HCM, guided participants on how to leverage AI to:

• Design lectures.

• Develop learning materials and exams.

• Assess learning outcomes.

More than just a training session, the event served as an open forum for lecturers to exchange experiences and address their questions.

The workshop's content was divided into four main parts, offering a comprehensive view of AI's role and applications in modern education:

1. Overview of AI in Education: An introduction to AI concepts, its role, application trends, and important considerations regarding ethics and legal aspects.

2. Introduction to and Hands-on Experience with AI Tools: A practical guide to popular tools like ChatGPT and Copilot for content creation, Quizlet AI and Canva AI for developing learning materials, and Beautiful.ai and Synthesia for creating slides and videos. Lecturers had the opportunity to practice using these tools on-site.

3. Building a Sample AI-Integrated Lesson: A detailed guide on how to design a complete lesson, from using ChatGPT for an outline to using Canva AI for illustrative slides.

4. Discussion and Q&A: An open forum for lecturers to share, ask questions, and receive expert advice.

By the end of the workshop, many lecturers expressed their enthusiasm, recognizing it as a highly practical program that helped them grasp new tools and methods for improving the quality of their lessons in the digital age. The workshop reaffirmed USSH's commitment to being a pioneer in applying technology to education, aiming for a modern and effective academic environment.
