On the morning of November 17, 2025, the exhibition “Lacquer Art – Connecting Vietnamese Heritage” officially opened at the Administration Building, Linh Xuan Campus. The event was co-organized by the Center for Information, Library, and Museum of USSH, VNU-HCM, in collaboration with the Faculty of Cultural Studies and the Ho Chi Minh City Lacquer and Sculpture Association.
Distinguished guests attending the opening ceremony included, on behalf of the Organizing Committee: Prof. Dr. Ngo Thi Phuong Lan – Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the University; Dr. Bui Thu Hang – Director of the Center for Information, Library, and Museum; Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy, M.A Vo Thi Huynh Nhu, and Mr. Vu Nguyen Anh – Vice Directors of the Center. Representing the Ho Chi Minh City Lacquer and Sculpture Association were Meritorious Artisan Le Ba Linh – Vice President of the Association and Director of Tu Bon Lacquerware Company; Meritorious Artisan and Painter Nguyen Van Quy – Vice President of the Association; and Painter Nguyen Tan Cong – Lecturer at the Ho Chi Minh City College of Culture and Arts, along with various collectors, lecturers, and students.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Dr. Bui Thu Hang emphasized that the exhibition is a significant activity to honor the art of sculpture and lacquer in contemporary life. “The exhibition does not only focus on artistic value but also highlights the role of lacquer heritage in modern times. This is an opportunity for faculty, students, and the public to engage directly with the artworks, gaining a deeper understanding of crafting techniques, historical origins, and the transformation of traditional craft villages in the current context,” shared Dr. Bui Thu Hang.

Meritorious Artisan Le Ba Linh – Vice President of the Association, expressed his joy in introducing lacquer artworks to the University’s faculty and students for the first time, especially in the vibrant atmosphere leading up to Vietnam Teacher’s Day (November 20) and Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day (November 23). He also hoped that "today's exhibition will not only showcase the beauty of lacquer art but also ignite a sense of pride and responsibility in preserving our heritage, particularly among students—the generation that will continue to write the story of Vietnamese culture in the future."

Featuring 123 artifacts, the exhibition space is more than just a place to showcase and honor artistic masterpieces. It offers visitors a vivid perspective on lacquer art—a quintessential Vietnamese art form that has evolved over centuries and continues to flourish today.
The exhibition is scheduled to run from November 17, 2025, to December 5, 2025, at the 2nd Floor Lobby, Administration Building, USSH VNU-HCM (Linh Xuan Campus).
