
On the morning of November 20, 2025, the Department of International Relations, Faculty of History & International Relations - University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City, had the honor of welcoming a delegation of scholars from Fudan University (China), one of the leading universities in Asia. The visit aimed to facilitate academic exchange and discuss potential cooperation directions between the two sides.
Fudan University delegation:
- Prof. Zhao Weihua - Director of the Center for China's Relations with Neighboring Countries, and an expert on Vietnam studies.
- Prof. Tu Yichao - Researcher on religion and international relations.
- Dr. Jiajie He - Researcher on ASEAN and Asian regionalism.
Representatives from the Faculty of History & International Relations:
- MA. Duong Thanh Thong - Deputy Head of the Faculty of History & International Relations
- Dr. Tran Nguyen Khang - Head of the Department of International Relations
- MA. Huynh Ho Dai Nghia - Lecturer at the Faculty of History & International Relations
During the working session, besides introducing general information about both universities, the two sides discussed many academic topics of strategic significance in the current regional context. The discussion covered: relations between China and neighboring countries within the changing geopolitical structure; the central role of ASEAN in maintaining stability and constructing regional security order; new trends in religious research and the impact of religious factors on international relations; as well as the ideological and institutional characteristics of Asian regionalism in the post-pandemic reshaping phase.
In addition to sharing key research results, approaches, and teaching experiences, both sides acknowledged that the potential for cooperation remains very open. Many opportunities can be explored in the future, especially in fields where both universities have complementary strengths.
Looking towards sustainable cooperation, both sides expressed their desire to promote a series of practical academic linkages, including: co-organizing in-depth scientific seminars and roundtables; implementing faculty and student exchange programs; fostering joint research cooperation; and developing new academic programs related to ASEAN, neighborhood relations, religion and international relations, as well as Asian regionalism. These directions are expected to contribute directly to improving training quality, expanding research space, and consolidating the academic standing of the International Relations discipline in the era of deep integration.
The Faculty of History & International Relations would like to express its sincere gratitude to the delegation of scholars from Fudan University for taking the time to visit and work in Ho Chi Minh City. Both sides expressed their hope to maintain this excellent cooperative relationship and meet again in future academic activities.
Such academic exchange activities contribute significantly to expanding the international cooperation network and creating more learning and research opportunities for the Faculty's lecturers and students in the future.
