CAFSUS Project – Full Doctoral Scholarships, International Research Mobility, and Research Infrastructure Support

Under the framework of the international research project Climate Change Mitigation in Agroforest Landscapes through Sustainable Sourcing Policies (CAFSUS) (Work Packages WP3–WP4), implemented at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH), Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM), the project has made a substantive contribution to doctoral education and to the strengthening of research capacity in the interconnected fields of environmental studies, social sciences, and sustainable global economic development, with a particular focus on climate change mitigation.
Through the CAFSUS project, the University competitively selected and awarded full doctoral scholarships to two PhD candidates from the Faculty of Geography. The selected doctoral research topics are closely aligned with the scientific objectives, analytical frameworks, and empirical components of the CAFSUS project. The full scholarship package covers doctoral tuition fees, costs associated with fieldwork and data collection, access to research infrastructure and academic working space, research equipment, and a monthly living allowance of 6,489 Danish Kroner (approximately VND 20 million). In addition, each doctoral candidate is supported for up to twelve months of international research mobility and academic exchange at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark.

Doctoral supervision is conducted under an international co-supervision framework, involving academic staff and senior researchers from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, the University of Copenhagen, and the University of Sydney. This supervisory structure ensures high academic standards, interdisciplinary integration, and compliance with internationally recognized research and ethical norms throughout the doctoral training process.

To directly support research implementation and the management of scientific data, the CAFSUS project has provided essential research equipment to the two doctoral candidates, including two Dell Core i7 laptops and two 6-terabyte external hard drives (one set per candidate). These resources support field data storage, secure data management, analysis, and the archiving of research outputs generated during project implementation. The provision of research equipment contributes to ensuring adequate research conditions, data security, and the effective and timely completion of research activities under the CAFSUS project.
