Domestic Field Trip Program | Exchange with the Faculty of International Relations, Academy of Journalism and Communication

On the morning of January 17, 2026, as part of the field trip "Following the Flow of Vietnam's History," a delegation of lecturers and students from the International Relations major, Faculty of History and International Relations, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City, held an academic exchange session at the Faculty of International Relations, Academy of Journalism and Communication.

The exchange session began in a lively and joyful atmosphere with performances by students from both schools. Students from the Faculty of International Relations at the Academy of Journalism and Communication opened the cultural program with the dance "Sac Viet," rich in national cultural identity, followed by the dances "Ho vuon minh" and the song "The Night." On the other side, students from the International Relations major, Faculty of History and International Relations, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, performed the traditional song "Tu nguyen," which moved the audience with every lyric; the dance performance "Ez x Whiplash" ended the opening cultural program with joy and excitement.

Speaking at the meeting, Dr. Luu Thuy Hong - Deputy Dean of the Faculty of International Relations at the Academy of Journalism and Communication, extended a warm welcome and greetings to the lecturers and students of the QH22-24 cohort of the International Relations major. She expressed her gratitude and appreciation for the special affection shown by the faculty and students of the International Relations major towards the Faculty of International Relations in particular and the Academy of Journalism and Communication in general; she also sent her best wishes for the success of the delegation's exchange trip.

MSc. Nguyen Tran Anh Thu, head of the International Relations exchange delegation from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNUHCM, expressed her gratitude to the host institution: "I am very touched by the warm welcome from the Academy. Thank you very much for the dedication of the leadership of the Faculty of International Relations and the organizing committee in arranging this exchange program. Today's program is very special because it marks the first milestone in the exchange between our two faculties, and I hope that today will be a premise for the increasingly brilliant development of the relationship between the two schools."

The topic "International Communication in Vietnam's Foreign Policy," presented by Dr. Luu Thuy Hong - Deputy Dean of the Faculty of International Relations, Academy of Journalism and Communication, provided all International Relations students with many new and meaningful insights into the field of "International Communication." She shared: "Foreign policy is a set of goals, strategies, and actions that a nation implements to manage its relationships with other countries and international entities. There are many tools to implement foreign policy, among which communication is currently the most prominent."

According to her, international communication is the activity of transmitting information across national borders within a global perspective, helping the world correctly understand policies, the country, people, history, and culture; furthermore, it aims to help domestic citizens better understand the world, thereby gaining consensus and support from international friends and overseas Vietnamese. In Vietnam, international communication is distinct as it also has the task of proactively combating misinformation. Additionally, she emphasized that international communication is strongly influenced by the global political situation and the scientific-technological revolution, especially issues related to information technology. Discussing orientations for Vietnam in this field, she believes that first, it is necessary to clarify common perceptions and form a unified mindset regarding national international communication; along with updating important digital tools to provide timely information to the international community, it is also necessary to develop a team of personnel directly performing international communication work. She affirmed that "No matter how much AI develops, humans remain the core for carrying out tasks," highlighting the decisive role of the human factor in the field of communication and external information.

Tra My, a student majoring in International Relations, eagerly shared about the exchange experience: "I am very impressed with the investment and meticulousness in each performance, through which I saw the appreciation and affection that the students of the Academy of Journalism and Communication have for us. Dr. Luu Thuy Hong's lecture also provided me with much more knowledge about external information and international communication."

At the end of the exchange, through the performance "Don anh mat troi," the International Relations students infused the space with connection, unity, and youthful spirit, leaving a deep impression on the attendees about the bond between the two faculties and two schools. Ending the exchange, students from the Faculty of History and International Relations all expressed their joy and appreciation for the warm hospitality from the Academy of Journalism and Communication. This working session not only brought academic value to the students of the Faculty of History and International Relations but also tightened the solidarity and bond between two leading universities in the country training in the field of Social Sciences and Humanities.
