On September 29, 2026, at the Linh Xuan campus of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City, the Faculty of Oriental Studies held a working session with a Chinese business delegation and several business partners to discuss the potential of applying artificial intelligence (AI) in education, work, and daily life.
Attending the meeting, on the side of the Faculty of Oriental Studies were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Thi Hong Xuan – Dean; Dr. Do Thuy Ha – Faculty Lecturer; Dr. Hoang Thi Thu Thuy – Head of the Chinese Studies Section; MA. Phan Hieu Nghia – Vietnam – ASEAN Cultural Exchange Center; along with graduate student Ho Nguyen Tuan Kiet. On the delegation's side was Mr. Dam Phong (覃峰 – Qin Feng), General Director for Vietnam region, along with representatives of the businesses.
At the meeting, the two sides discussed several AI applications that can be implemented in practice, such as smart customer service, media – marketing, 3D video, and tools to support learning and professional skill development. The focus of the discussion was the possibility of integrating suitable AI applications into the educational environment, helping students and trainees connect their specialized knowledge, language – cultural competencies, and technological skills with the practical requirements of the labor market.
From the training perspective, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Thi Hong Xuan proposed plans for both sides to continue researching a suitable implementation model, ensuring alignment between training goals, learners' needs, and the technological support capabilities from businesses.
Sharing at the meeting, Mr. Dam Phong noted that through his work and experience in many Chinese cities, especially Chengdu (Sichuan), he clearly observed the speed of development and the ability to apply new technologies in daily life. He highly appreciated the Faculty of Oriental Studies and the Chinese Studies program's orientation toward linking training with practice, and expressed his desire to support and promote appropriate cooperative activities in the coming time.
The working session opened a connection path between Chinese studies training, language – cultural competence, AI technology, and businesses, contributing to expanding opportunities for learning, experience, and professional capacity development for students and trainees in the context of digital transformation.
