CHINESE STUDIES PROGRAM, FACULTY OF ORIENTAL STUDIES WORKS WITH GUANGZHOU UNIVERSITY AND SUNWAH GROUP: EXPANDING CHANNELS FOR VIETNAM – CHINA EDUCATIONAL AND RESEARCH COOPERATION

On the morning of October 1, 2026, at the Saigon campus, the Chinese Studies program of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City, held a working session with a delegation from Guangzhou University (China) and Sunwah Group to exchange experiences in training, education, and international cooperation, while also opening up new possibilities for collaboration in education and research between the two countries.

Attending the program, on the side of Guangzhou University (China), there were Prof. Dr. Wang Dongping, Deputy Dean of the School of International Education, Guangzhou University; and Dr. Ou Lixian, Lecturer at the School of Foreign Languages, Guangzhou University.
On the side of Sunwah Group, there were Ms. Huynh Khanh Linh, External Relations Manager, and Ms. Huynh Thi Vy, External Relations and Project Coordination Specialist.
On the side of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, there was the attendance of Dr. Hoang Thi Thu Thuy, Head of the Chinese Studies program, Faculty of Oriental Studies, along with lecturers from the Chinese Studies program.

During the meeting, Guangzhou University and the Chinese Studies program discussed opportunities and potential for cooperation in academic research, orientation for developing training programs and language teaching; and promoted the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City and Guangzhou University, aiming to build a long-term cooperative relationship in the fields of training, research, and education. The two faculties plan to collaborate in organizing short-term courses (from about 3 months to 1 year) and summer camps (2 weeks) for students of both universities, as well as academic research opportunities for lecturers from both sides.

The working session between the two faculties opened up further exchanges on cooperation possibilities in training, education, and research, while also acting as a bridge for other units within the university. This is also an opportunity for the University to continue promoting its role in academic connection, fostering exchanges, and contributing to the Vietnam – China educational cooperative relationship in the new phase.
