Thực tập doanh nghiệp: Lợi ích và thách thức từ góc nhìn từ sinh viên chuyên ngành biên - phiên dịch tiếng Anh

Abstract

This study investigates the industry-based internship experiences of 81 undergraduate English translation majors at a Vietnamese university. Employing a mixed-methods approach (quantitative and qualitative) based on a dataset of 81 internship reports, the research identifies the business sectors and roles they engaged with, the benefits they perceived, and the challenges they encountered. The findings reveal that 73% of the students completed their internships in fields directly related to language and translation, while 27% worked in interdisciplinary environments, reflecting a trend of career transition. Internship roles were categorized into translation-focused positions, administrative tasks, communication-related functions, educational support, and creative production. Students highlighted six significant benefits enhancing their professional competencies and employability, including: (1) Improvement of soft skills and personal development, (2) Understanding of industry workflows and professional environments, (3) Development of professional translation skills, (4) Application of academic knowledge to real-world contexts, (5) Exposure to specialized content and subject-matter areas, and (6) Enhanced career awareness and motivation. Simultaneously, they faced six substantial challenges arising from internal and external causes, including: (1) Time pressure and deadlines, (2) Struggles with adapting to practical workflows and workplace communication, (3) Complexity of assigned tasks, (4) Limited knowledge of technology and systems, (5) Inadequate training and job preparation, and (6) Unexpected changes or disruptions. It recommends stronger integration between universities and industry, enhanced preparation, and more structured mentorship. These findings contribute to the literature on experiential learning in higher education and provide evidence supporting student employability and competence development.

Nghiên cứu tìm hiểu kinh nghiệm thực tập doanh nghiệp của 81 sinh viên Biên - Phiên dịch tiếng Anh tại một trường đại học Việt Nam. Sử dụng phương pháp hỗn hợp (định lượng và định tính) với dữ liệu là 81 báo cáo thực tập, nghiên cứu xác định lĩnh vực hoạt động và vị trí thực tập, lợi ích, và thách thức của sinh viên trong quá trình thực tập. Kết quả cho thấy 73% sinh viên đã thực tập trong các lĩnh vực liên quan trực tiếp đến ngôn ngữ và dịch thuật; 27% sinh viên làm việc trong môi trường liên ngành, phản ánh xu hướng dịch chuyển nghề nghiệp. Vị trí thực tập tập trung vào công việc dịch thuật, hành chính, dịch vụ giao tiếp, hỗ trợ giáo dục và sản xuất sáng tạo. Có sáu lợi ích giúp nâng cao năng lực nghề nghiệp và khả năng tuyển dụng, gồm: (1) cải thiện kỹ năng mềm và phát triển cá nhân, (2) hiểu biết về quy trình làm việc của ngành và môi trường chuyên nghiệp, (3) phát triển kỹ năng dịch thuật chuyên nghiệp, (4) ứng dụng kiến thức học thuật vào thực tế, (5) tiếp xúc với nội dung và lĩnh vực chuyên ngành, (6) tăng cường nhận thức và động lực nghề nghiệp. Đồng thời, cũng có sáu thách thức xuất phát từ các nguyên nhân nội sinh và ngoại sinh, gồm: (1) áp lực thời gian và thời hạn, (2) trở ngại trong thích ứng với quy trình làm việc và giao tiếp, (3) độ phức tạp của công việc được giao, (4) hạn chế hiểu biết về công nghệ và hệ thống, (5) hạn chế trong đào tạo và chuẩn bị, (6) thay đổi hoặc sự cố bất ngờ. Nghiên cứu đề xuất sự hợp tác mạnh hơn giữa trường đại học và doanh nghiệp, tăng cường chuẩn bị và cố vấn thực tập cho sinh viên. Kết quả góp phần củng cố học tập trải nghiệm trong giáo dục đại học và chứng minh cho khả năng phát triển năng lực nghề nghiệp và khả năng tuyển dụng của sinh viên.
