INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR SERIES "WINTER ANTHROPOLOGY LECTURE SERIES 2023" (WALS)

At 5:30 p.m. on October 30, the opening program of the series of international scientific seminars “Winter Anthropology Lecture Series 2023” (Wals) - “Winter Anthropology Forum 2023” was held in room C.105 , University of Social Sciences and Humanities (10-12 Dinh Tien Hoang, Ben Nghe Ward, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City).

In the first seminar of the International Scientific Seminar Series, two speakers were Dr. Emmanuel Pannier (French National Research Institute (IRD) - Exchange scholar at the Department of Anthropology, University of Social Sciences and Humanities Hanoi and PhD. MSc. Phan Thi Kim Tam (French National Research Institute - IRD) presented presenting the topic "Contingent adaptation" as daily activities: developing new agricultural measures to cope with historic floods in the northern highlands of Vietnam. The topic presented is the result of research in the commune Nghia Do, Bao Yen district, Lao Cai province, a locality where a large number of Tay people live. During the discussion, there was a lot of interaction between the speaker and attendees with questions, sharing, and comments. Very active discussion and debate in a lively, open academic atmosphere.

The discussion session was led by Dr. Truong Thi Thu Hang - Head of the Department of Anthropology co-chaired with Dr. Catherine Earl - RMIT Vietnam University in City. HCM. In particular, the program received a large participation from scholars, lecturers, graduate students & students inside and outside the Faculty of Anthropology.

The discussion ended successfully at 8:30 p.m. the same day.
