Speakers
1. Dr. Filip Kraus
Palacký University Olomouc, Czech Republic
Dr. Filip Kraus is a social and cultural anthropologist specializing in contemporary Vietnamese society, migration, Vietnamese diasporic communities, and Southeast Asian politics. He is Director of the Center for Excellence at the Chinese Academy of Sciences; Senior Lecturer at the Department of Asian Studies, Faculty of Arts, Palacký University Olomouc, Czech Republic; and Visiting Professor at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City. He received his PhD in Social and Cultural Studies from National Chiao Tung University, Taiwan, and has held research positions at the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Taiwan and several European universities.
2. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Duc Loc
Director of the Social Life Research Institute
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Duc Loc is a social anthropologist with extensive experience in research on informal labor, internal migration, and the lives of vulnerable groups in Viet Nam. His research pays particular attention to everyday lived experiences, where knowledge does not exist merely as abstract propositions but is formed, preserved, and transmitted through the human body and social practices within the lifeworld.
Across his works, he has consistently pursued a methodological perspective that values human subjectivity and lived experience. He also seeks to develop an epistemology rooted in local contexts, rather than passively adopting Euro-American theoretical frameworks.
3. Dr. Vu Quang Ha
Deputy Director of the Vietnam Intellectual Property Academy
Dr. Vu Quang Ha graduated in Philosophy in 1988 and obtained his PhD in Sociology in 1998. He has worked at Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City since 1988, and at the Faculty of Sociology, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City, since 1999.
He served as Vice Dean of the Faculty of Sociology from 2001 to 2017 and Head of the Department of History and Sociological Theory from 2001 to 2020. Since 2020, he has been teaching at the postgraduate level.
His main research interests include sociological theory, religion, and belief systems.
