2. The global coffee market shapes rural development strategies in Colombia and Kenya

Professor Phillip A. Hough is the winner of the U.S. Global Fulbright Award 2022-2023. His current research uses qualitative methods to explore how coffee farmers living across the “global coffee belt” regions of Colombia, Kenya, and Vietnam have adapted to the volatility of the 21st century world coffee market. Having completed his research in Colombia and Kenya, he is currently in Vietnam to complete his last case study. In this lecture, Professor Hough will draw upon his research in Colombia and Kenya to explain how the global coffee market shapes rural development strategies.
