Mock Trial and Volunteer Journey for the Homeland’s Seas and Islands: “Legal Nets on Ocean Waves” – “Reaching Hands Across the Sea”

On April 21, the meaningful journey titled “The Homeland Seen from the Sea”, organized by the Sociology Youth Union – University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-HCM, officially came to a close at Long Hòa Border Guard Station, Cần Giờ District, Ho Chi Minh City. This marked the final stop in a series of activities designed to raise awareness about maritime sovereignty while promoting community service among youth.
When the Law Sails with the Waves
One of the highlights of the program was a mock trial titled “Legal Nets on Ocean Waves”, organized by the Law Club from Ho Chi Minh City Cadre Academy. The session simulated a legal case related to maritime law, offering students and local officers an engaging and accessible way to learn about Vietnam’s maritime rights and responsibilities.
During the event, the Sociology Youth Union, in collaboration with Long Hòa Border Guard Station, also awarded scholarships to disadvantaged local students, encouraging them to continue striving in their studies and lives.
Additionally, the Border Guard Law Training Session, hosted by the station, drew the interest of many local residents and contributed to enhancing public understanding of border protection and legal responsibility.
Volunteerism – A Journey of Service and Connection
The volunteer activity “Reaching Hands Across the Sea” was a heartfelt chapter in the journey, symbolizing the dedication and courage of youth volunteers. Despite challenges, they brought joy, warmth, and meaningful support to this remote coastal community.
The Sociology Youth Union extends sincere gratitude to all the volunteers who stepped up with compassion and commitment. We hope to continue walking this path together—bringing smiles, knowledge, and youthful energy to every corner of the nation.
About the Program: “The Homeland Seen from the Sea”
This initiative included six integrated activities carried out by the Sociology Youth Union, aiming to cultivate comprehensive knowledge of Vietnam’s maritime sovereignty and instill a deep sense of patriotism in young people:

2️⃣ “Golden Sea, Silver Sea” – Educational outreach on maritime sovereignty
3️⃣ “The Sea and Islands in Our Hearts” – Field trip to the University’s Sea and Island Exhibition Room
4️⃣ “Legal Nets on Ocean Waves” – Mock trial on maritime legal issues
5️⃣ “Reaching Hands Across the Sea” – Volunteer work in coastal border communes
6️⃣ “Letters to the Frontlines” – Reflections and messages on national sovereignty
