Faculty of Sociology Launches Fundraising Campaign to Support Disadvantaged Children in Long Hoa Border Commune

As part of the ongoing initiative “The Homeland Seen from the Sea” to raise awareness about national maritime sovereignty, the Youth Union of the Faculty of Sociology, University of Social Sciences and Humanities – VNU-HCM, has launched a fundraising campaign titled “Connecting Hands to the Sea”. The program aims to support underprivileged children living in Long Hoa commune, Can Gio district, Ho Chi Minh City.

Understanding the hardships and challenges faced by children in coastal border regions, the Faculty organized this fundraising activity to provide meaningful and practical gifts that can improve their daily lives and educational opportunities.

Fundraising items include:

• “Bé Đậu” rice paper snacks: 15,000 VND per bag

• Green chili salt rice paper: 15,000 VND per bag

• Ink pens: 7,000 VND each

• 5D face masks: 15,000 VND per pack (10 masks)

All proceeds from product sales will be used to provide scholarships and essential supplies to students in need. Every small contribution represents a helping hand that carries warmth and compassion across the waves and into homes along the country’s coastline.

This fundraising event is part of the six-part campaign “The Homeland Seen from the Sea,” which includes:

1. Media campaign honoring naval officers and soldiers – “Guardians of the Nation’s Image”

2. Awareness campaign on Vietnam’s maritime sovereignty – “Golden Sea, Silver Sea”

3. Educational visit to the Maritime Exhibition Room at USSH – “Sea and Islands in the Heart of Humanities”

4. Mock trial on maritime law – “Legal Nets on the Waves”

5. Volunteer activity in border and coastal communes – “Connecting Hands to the Sea”

6. Letter-writing activity reflecting on maritime sovereignty – “Letters from the Frontline”

With a mission to spread knowledge, love for the homeland, and social responsibility, this program embodies the commitment of Sociology students to serve the community and contribute meaningfully to the country.
