Invitation to participate in scientific seminar No. 9, 2025: “GIS Application in Social Science Research: Potentials, Challenges, and Interdisciplinary Approaches”

The Organizing Committee respectfully invites you to attend the 9th Scientific Seminar, Faculty of Sociology, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City (USSH, VNU-HCM).
Speaker: Le Khanh Hung, MPP.
MPP. Le Khanh Hung is currently Head of the Office of Urban Information and Practice and a lecturer in the Department of Urban Management and Regional Development, Faculty of Urban Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University – Ho Chi Minh City. He holds a Master of Public Policy from Fulbright University Vietnam, with expertise in urban economics and policy analysis. His primary research interests include urban economics, livelihood transitions, and the application of GIS in spatial analysis. Mr. Le Khanh Hung has participated in and published numerous studies related to urban planning, urban welfare, and sustainable development in Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta region.

2/ Common GIS tools such as ArcGIS, QGIS, and Google Earth Engine.
3/ Methods of collecting and processing spatial data.
Through the analysis of these aspects, the presentation not only provides conceptual ideas but also raises practical questions, such as typical applications in sociology, anthropology, development studies, public policy, and showcases real-world GIS-based research conducted in Vietnam and across Asia.
