
The university would like to inform units about the 2026 Mexican Government Excellence Scholarship Program for International Students. Details are as follows:
1. Scholarship type and duration:
- Undergraduate exchange: Maximum 12 months;
- Master's exchange: Maximum 12 months;
- Master's degree study: Maximum 24 months;
- Doctoral research scholarship: 6-12 months;
- Postdoctoral research scholarship: 6-12 months.
- The scholarship period will begin between August 2026 and November 10, 2026, with a minimum duration of 6 months.
2. Scholarship amount:
- For undergraduate exchange, master's exchange, and master's degree scholarships: a stipend of 14,264.88 MXN/month.
- For doctoral research and postdoctoral research: a stipend of 17,831.10 MXN/month.
- Additionally, benefits include:
+ Exemption from tuition and enrollment fees (according to the receiving institution's regulations);
+ Health insurance through the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS);
+ Exemption from Mexican visa fees;
+ Round-trip international airfare (economy class) for eligible countries;
+ Domestic transportation costs from Mexico City to the place of study and return upon completion of the program.
3. Priority research fields:
- Food security and nutrition;
- Gender equality;
- Water resource management;
- Renewable energy;
- Reducing social inequality;
- Sustainable consumption and production;
- Climate change;
- Ecosystem and biodiversity conservation.
4. Ineligible applicants:
- Foreign diplomats accredited in Mexico and their family members;
- Foreign citizens currently residing in Mexico without a Temporary Resident Student Card issued by the Mexican Government;
- Foreign citizens with Mexican nationality, including those with a Mexican parent;
- Foreign citizens who hold or intend to apply for a family reunification visa in Mexico;
- Candidates who have previously received a scholarship from any Mexican Government agency in the preceding year;
- Individuals currently receiving a scholarship from any Mexican Government agency;
- Individuals who have previously received an AMEXCID scholarship but are not yet eligible to reapply;
- Individuals who have previously received an AMEXCID scholarship but did not complete the program in previous selection cycles;
- Individuals under 18 years of age at the time of application.
5. Application deadline: 15:00 on June 22, 2026 (Mexico Time).
6. Application procedure:
- Candidates submit their applications directly online via the SIGCA system: https://sigca.sre.gob.mx
- Applications must be in Spanish.
- Each person may only submit one application; duplicate applications will be automatically disqualified.
- Individuals with multiple nationalities may only register under one nationality that is on the list of eligible countries.
