DEPARTMENT OF ORIENTAL STUDIES CONGRATULATES THE NEW PRESIDENT OF THE VIET NAM – THAILAND FRIENDSHIP ASSOCIATION IN HO CHI MINH CITY

On the morning of June 9, 2026, the Viet Nam – Thailand Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh City held an Executive Committee Meeting to consolidate personnel and implement people-to-people diplomacy tasks for the new period.
At the conference, delegates unanimously elected Le Hong Nam – former member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, former Director of Ho Chi Minh City Police Department – to the position of President of the Viet Nam – Thailand Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh City for the current term.
On behalf of the faculty, staff, and students of the Department of Oriental Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Thi Hong Xuan – Head of the Department of Oriental Studies, Vice President of the Viet Nam – Thailand Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh City, extended her congratulations to the new President of the Association.
The Department of Oriental Studies believes that, with his extensive experience in leadership, management, and significant contributions to the development of Ho Chi Minh City, Le Hong Nam will continue to promote the Association's role in enhancing people-to-people exchanges, fostering cooperation in culture, education, tourism, and economics between Viet Nam and Thailand, and contributing to deepening the Strengthened Strategic Partnership between the two countries.
Over the years, the Department of Oriental Studies has consistently maintained and expanded cooperation activities with Thai partners through training programs, scientific research, academic exchanges, and cultural interactions. The Department looks forward to continuing its collaboration with the Viet Nam – Thailand Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh City in activities that connect the people, contributing to building a united, developed, and prosperous ASEAN community.
