On June 1, 2026, the President of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City signed Decision No. 1055/QD-XHNV-TCCB-PC on the establishment of the Vietnam - ASEAN Cultural Exchange Center (VACEC) under the Faculty of Oriental Studies.
VACEC is positioned as a practical unit for cultural exchange and community service, acting as a bridge for knowledge transfer with 4 core functions:
Cooperation & Exchange: Connecting international cooperation and promoting people-to-people exchange.
Community Service: Spreading cultural values and implementing programs associated with sustainable development.
Training & Services: Organizing short-term training courses on Southeast Asian languages, integration knowledge, and intercultural communication skills.
Scientific Research: Conducting interdisciplinary research on culture and society; organizing conferences and providing policy consultation.
The establishment of VACEC is expected to create a dynamic academic and cultural practice space for lecturers and students, while contributing to strengthening the friendly relations between Viet Nam and ASEAN member countries.
