DEPARTMENT OF ORIENTAL STUDIES SUCCESSFULLY DEFENDS PILOT TRAINING PROGRAM FOR BUSINESS CHINESE AT UNIVERSITY LEVEL
On June 29, 2026, the Drafting Committee for the Business Chinese (BC) program of the Department of Oriental Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City participated in a defense session for the Training Program before the Appraisal Council. This marks an important milestone in the roadmap for building and developing the university's new major.
Connecting training with practical needs
The program drafting committee includes Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Thi Hong Xuan – Head of the Department of Oriental Studies, Dr. Le Thi Sinh Hien – Deputy Head of the Department, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Tuan – Head of the Oriental Studies major, along with the faculty of the Chinese Studies division. The training program was developed based on a thorough research process, surveys of social needs, and consultations with businesses, ensuring a strong alignment between training and professional practice.
Appraisal Council highly appreciates scientific and practical value
The appraisal session was chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Luu Van Quyet – Chairman of the Council. Contributing feedback were Dr. Dang Thu Lan (Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City), Dr. Van Trung Hieu (Editor-in-Chief of Sai Gon Giai Phong Newspaper), and Ms. Vu Thi Thanh Huyen (HR Director of TCL Electronics).
In his opening remarks, the Chairman of the Council emphasized the context of strong international integration and the Vietnam-China economic cooperation, which creates a significant demand for human resources proficient in Chinese, with professional expertise and the ability to work effectively in modern business environments.
During the session, Dr. Le Thi Sinh Hien, representing the Drafting Committee, presented an overview of the training philosophy, output standards, program structure, and innovations in the pilot model. Council members engaged in in-depth discussions focusing on the up-to-date nature of the modules and the alignment between output standards and recruitment requirements in the era of digital transformation.
Prospects for the new training program
At the end of the working session, the Council highly appreciated the serious investment by the Drafting Committee and reached a consensus on the contents to be finalized for submission to the competent authorities for approval.
The successful defense of the pilot Training Program for Business Chinese at the institutional level is the result of the responsible work of the faculty of the Department of Oriental Studies. This is an important premise for the university to soon launch the new major, meeting the expectations of learners and providing high-quality human resources for the labor market.
