Students of Chinese Studies, Faculty of Oriental Studies participate in the 2026 Global Youth Cultural Exchange Summer Camp at Xiamen University (China)

For many years, the Faculty of Oriental Studies has always focused on expanding international cooperation to create more learning and experience opportunities for students. Based on the academic exchange relationship between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City and Xiamen University, especially since the working visit in 2024, student exchange activities between the two units have been increasingly promoted. Every year, students majoring in Chinese Studies have the opportunity to participate in the summer camp at Xiamen University. Not only is this a great environment for practicing Chinese, but it is also an occasion for students to meet international friends, access multicultural perspectives, and accumulate luggage for their integration process.
Participating in the 2026 Summer Camp program, Le Bao Ngoc and Tran Tien Dat, students of the 2024 cohort, majoring in Chinese Studies, Faculty of Oriental Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City, along with international students, attended many seminars on Chinese culture, economy, and technology; visited Xiamen University, Nanputuo Temple, and Quanzhou city – one of the stops on the Maritime Silk Road that connected East-West culture and economy in ancient times. Besides that, they also had the opportunity to experience martial arts, calligraphy, traditional fan making, learn about tea culture, and participate in many exchange activities and teamwork with friends from all over the world.

A highlight of the program was the International Cultural Exchange Night, where Le Bao Ngoc and students from the Faculty of Oriental Studies – University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU Hanoi presented the song and dance performance “One Circle of Vietnam”. In their traditional Ao Dai and familiar conical hats, they introduced the melodies, images, and cultural identity of Vietnam to international friends, contributing to spreading the beauty of the country and people of Vietnam in a multicultural exchange space.

Sharing after the program, Le Bao Ngoc expressed: “Ten days at the Xiamen Summer Camp was an incredibly memorable journey for me. I was able to practice Chinese every day and experience many activities related to Chinese culture. What I am most proud of is being able to wear the Ao Dai, put on the conical hat, and bring the 'One Circle of Vietnam' performance to the international stage. I feel happy to be able to introduce Vietnamese culture to friends from five continents. After the trip, I have gained many more experiences, made many new friends, and it has also given me more motivation to continue studying Chinese well.”
Concluding the journey at Xiamen University, the experiences of learning, exchanging, and connecting internationally will become valuable baggage for the students of the Faculty of Oriental Studies. This is not only a memorable mark in their student life but also a motivation for them to continue nurturing the spirit of integration, promoting foreign language proficiency, and contributing to promoting the image of Vietnam to friends around the world.
