Exchange program between students of the Faculty of Oriental Studies and students from Indonesian universities

On the afternoon of August 1, 2026, the Faculty of Oriental Studies organized an exchange program between students of the Faculty of Oriental Studies and students from Jenderal Soedirman University (UNSOED) and the University of Mataram (UNRAM), Indonesia, at the Linh Xuan campus.

Within the framework of the 2026 Green Summer Volunteer Campaign, aiming to enhance international integration skills for students, the Faculty of Oriental Studies held the Vietnam – Indonesia exchange program for students of the Faculty of Oriental Studies and 15 students from Jenderal Soedirman University and the University of Mataram, Indonesia. Attending the program, on the side of the Indonesian universities were Dr. Sunarya Siti Latifah Endang - Vice President of the University of Mataram, Dr. Suryani Embun - Deputy Director of the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Mataram, and Prof. Dr. Condro Wibowo – Head of the International Relations Division of the Office of International Cooperation at Jenderal Soedirman University. Representing the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City were Dr. Nguyen Thanh Tuan – Head of the Oriental Studies Department and Head of the Indonesian Studies section, and MSc. Ho Ngoc Hieu – Lecturer of the Indonesian Studies section, along with representatives from the Youth Union and the Student Association of the Faculty of Oriental Studies.

During this exchange session, students from the Indonesian universities and the Faculty of Oriental Studies presented topics within the scope of the Green Summer Volunteer Campaign in Bau Lam commune, as well as their study tours and experiences in the center of Ho Chi Minh City. Simultaneously, student groups shared the achievements of their joint cooperation during the implementation of the Green Summer Volunteer Campaign.

To share insights about the countries and people of Vietnam and Indonesia, students from both countries participated in a quiz titled “Colors of Vietnamese and Indonesian Culture”. In this competition, student groups from both countries introduced representative dishes, traditional dances, traditional costumes, and popular landmarks of the two nations. The Vietnamese and Indonesian students were very enthusiastic and excited to participate in this activity.

To acknowledge the cooperation and the participation of students in the 2026 Green Summer Volunteer Campaign at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City, the Faculty of Oriental Studies presented gifts to the representatives of the Indonesian universities as well as the 15 students from Jenderal Soedirman University and the University of Mataram.
