FACULTY OF ORIENTAL STUDIES SIGNS MOU WITH HORIZON JHSSR, EXPANDING RESEARCH COOPERATION AND INTERNATIONAL PUBLICATIONS
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, September 18, 2026 – Within the framework of the internship and academic-cultural exchange program for postgraduate students of Asian Studies in Malaysia, the Faculty of Oriental Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Horizon Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences Research (Horizon JHSSR).
The signing ceremony was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Thi Hong Xuan – Head of the Faculty of Oriental Studies and Prof. Dr. Nayan Kanwal – Editor-in-Chief of Horizon JHSSR, along with members of the Vietnamese delegation and representatives from Horizon.
Horizon Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences Research (JHSSR), eISSN 2682-9096, is an international, multidisciplinary, peer-reviewed, and open-access journal in the field of humanities and social sciences. Established in 2019, the journal aims to promote new research on theories, policies, and practices, while building an international academic network with the participation of scholars from approximately 30 countries.
To date, JHSSR has published the works of more than 900 researchers and experts. The journal is connected, indexed, or searchable on many international academic systems such as Crossref, Google Scholar, EBSCOhost, ProQuest, SSRN, MyJournal/MyCite, and ISC, thereby contributing to increasing the accessibility and dissemination of research results within the international scientific community.
The signing of the MOU opens opportunities for both sides to strengthen joint research, scientific publication, and scholar exchange; collaborate in organizing international conferences, seminars, and special topics; and connect lecturers, postgraduate students, and researchers within the academic networks of both parties.
For the Faculty of Oriental Studies, the cooperation with Horizon JHSSR contributes to expanding the international academic environment for lecturers and postgraduate students, especially in the fields of Asian Studies, Oriental Studies, social-cultural studies, education, community, and cross-cultural relations.
Speaking at the program, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Thi Hong Xuan emphasized the desire for the MOU to go beyond the signed document and be soon materialized through practical activities, connecting training, research, international publication, and academic exchange, creating more opportunities for lecturers and learners to participate in transnational research networks.
The signing ceremony took place in a cordial and open atmosphere, continuing the series of academic and cultural exchange activities of the delegation in Malaysia. This is a new step in the orientation of internationalizing the training and research activities of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, while also contributing to strengthening academic connections and people-to-people diplomacy between Vietnam, Malaysia, and the international community.
From an academic meeting to an MOU, and from an MOU to joint research projects – knowledge is one of the sustainable bridges connecting people, academic institutions, and the friendship between nations.
