Prof. Dr. Ngô Thị Phương Lan: Looking ahead for the future of ASTEN

On this momentous occasion of AsTEN's 10th anniversary, I am filled with pride as we reflect on the incredible journey we have undertaken together. Over the past decade, ASTEN has emerged as a premier platform for educational collaboration in the ASEAN region with a spirit of unity, innovation, and excellence in teacher education.

As we celebrate our milestones, I am inspired by the notable achievements of our Network and the impact we have made across Southeast Asia. Yet, I firmly believe that even greater opportunities lie ahead for us to influence and advance teacher education in the region.

Under my leadership, my vision for ASTEN is to build an even stronger, more interconnected Network that embodies the spirit of leadership and responsibility. We aim to leverage the diversity of our member institutions to promote creative, inclusive, sustainable and adaptive initiatives that will benefit the ASEAN peoples. In a rapidly changing world, it is crucial that we equip our students, teachers, and educators with the skills, knowledge, and resilience needed to navigate and lead in this era of digital transformation.

Looking forward, ASTEN will prioritize the development of innovative teaching methodologies, cross- border collaborations, and cutting-edge research that addresses the unique challenges and opportunities in teacher education. With our recently launched Strategic Directions 2024-2028 and Research for Sustainability and Impact: The AsTEN Research Agenda, we aim to create a lasting impact while remaining responsive and supportive of ASEAN's education agenda. Additionally, we will focus on expanding professional development opportunities for teachers and teacher educators, ensuring they are empowered to inspire and uplift the next generation of learners. We also hope to see increased mobility among students and faculty members within the region to encourage the sharing of knowledge, expertise, and best practices.

I am confident that with your continued support and collaboration, AsTEN can achieve even greater success, contributing to a future where education serves as a powerful force for social progress, cultural understanding, and sustainable development. Together, let us shape the future of education in our region, leaving a legacy of excellence that will benefit countless generations to come.
