International Conference on Applied Research in Education - ICARE

From January 9^th to 10^th, Prof. Dr. Ngô Thị Phương Lan, Chairperson of the Southeast Asian Teacher Education Network (AsTEN) and President of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City (USSH-VNUHCM), led the USSH's delegation to attend the International Conference on Applied Research in Education (ICARE) following the invitation of Myanmar's Ministry of Education.

The conference, organized by Myanmar's Ministry of Education in collaboration with several universities and international organizations, including AsTEN, marked Myanmar’s first international event on education and applied science. The event welcomed high-ranking leaders such as the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, various Myanmar ministers, and ambassadors from different countries. It also brought together over 70 international scientists from 15 countries, along with leading scholars in education, science, and technology.

The USSH-VNUHCM's delegation comprised Prof. Dr. Ngô Thị Phương Lan (President), Dr. Phạm Thanh Duy (Head of Administrative Affairs), and Dr. Hoàng Mai Khanh (Head of Quality Assurance).

In her role as AsTEN Chairperson, Prof. Dr. Ngô Thị Phương Lan congratulated the conference and emphasized the importance of education in addressing global challenges such as digital transformation, climate change, and post-pandemic recovery. She highlighted the conference as a valuable opportunity for scientists and education experts to exchange knowledge, share innovative ideas, and foster interdisciplinary collaboration toward the common goals of sustainable development and improving education quality in Southeast Asia.

Prof. Dr. Ngô Thị Phương Lan also discussed the role of the Southeast Asian Teacher Education Network (AsTEN), affirming its commitment to enhancing training quality, promoting research collaboration, and driving innovation for the sustainable development of education in the region. Additionally, she expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Myanmar's Ministry of Education, Yangon University of Education, the conference organizers, and AsTEN members for their tremendous efforts in hosting such a meaningful event as ICARE.

As part of the conference, the University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Yangon University of Education, under the Ministry of Education of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar. This marks a significant milestone, paving the way for numerous opportunities for collaboration in training, research, and faculty and student exchanges between the two institutions.

The International Conference on Applied Research in Education (ICARE) served not only as a platform for connecting scientists and educators but also as a significant step in enhancing regional collaboration and promoting applied educational initiatives. The participation of the USSH-VNUHCM at the conference once again reaffirmed the USSH-VNUHCM’s role, position, and reputation within the international educational community.
