International Conference on Social Sciences and Humanities 2024 - Sub-panel: International Relations, Asian Studies

On the morning of October 25, 2024, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City, in collaboration with the international organization Connecting Asia, inaugurated the International Conference on Social Sciences and Humanities 2024 (USSH-ICSSH 2024). The international conference on social sciences and humanities is intended for the university's graduate students and students. Following the plenary session at the Van Khoa Hall, sub-panels for various disciplines were held in specialized rooms.

The International Relations and Asian Studies sub-panel took place in the afternoon in room 503. To moderate the presentations and discussions of the International Relations and Asian Studies sub-panel, the panel of chairs consisted of 03 members: 1) Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tien Luc (Head of the Sub-panel), 2) Dr. Nguyen Thanh Tuan (Member), and 3) Dr. Van Kim Hoang Ha (Secretary). In addition, lecturers from the Faculty of Oriental Studies and many graduate students majoring in Asian Studies were in attendance.

The Asian Studies discipline had 4 reports presented, including: 1) Five main routes (Gakaido) for Japan's domestic trade economy during the mid-Edo period (1690-1780), 2) Reforms in the East from the perspective of political culture, 3) The conversion to Protestantism in Japan: Factors and some influences, and 4) China's neighborly foreign policy towards Vietnam in the field of diplomacy under Xi Jinping (from 2012 to present). The content of these reports focused on the history, politics, and culture of the Asian region.

The presenters summarized the content of their reports, which were then reviewed, commented on, and questioned by the members of the chair panel and the attendees. The presenters acknowledged and thanked the chair panel and attendees for their contributions. After the presentation session, the chair panel, on behalf of the University, awarded Certificates to the presenters.
