FACULTY OF ORIENTAL STUDIES VISITS AND CONGRATULATES THE 81ST INDEPENDENCE DAY OF THE REPUBLIC OF INDONESIA

On the morning of August 17, 2026, marking the 81st Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia (August 17, 1945 – August 17, 2026), a delegation from the Faculty of Oriental Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City visited and congratulated the Consul General of Indonesia and the Indonesian community in Ho Chi Minh City.
The delegation included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Thi Hong Xuan – Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, President of the Vietnam – Southeast Asia Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh City (VAFA); Dr. Nguyen Thanh Tuan – Head of the Southeast Asian Studies Department, Head of the Indonesian Studies Professional Group, Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam – Indonesia Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh City; and Mr. Dao Hieu Dong – co-creator of Thuy Tinh Chau Chess, member of the VAFA Executive Committee, and a partner accompanying the Faculty of Oriental Studies in cultural exchange and community connection activities.

In a warm atmosphere, the delegation sent their best wishes to the Consulate General and the people of Indonesia on the occasion of the Independence Day; at the same time, they expressed their desire to continue strengthening cooperation in the fields of education, research, cultural exchange, student connection, and people-to-people diplomacy between the Faculty of Oriental Studies, the Consulate General, and Indonesian partners.
The visit was also an opportunity to discuss potential collaborative activities in the near future, thereby leveraging the strengths of the Faculty of Oriental Studies in Indonesian training and research, as well as enhancing connections between the university, diplomatic agencies, friendship organizations, and social partners.
Through academic and cultural exchange activities, including initiatives to introduce Vietnamese culture such as Thuy Tinh Chau Chess, the Faculty of Oriental Studies aims to contribute to creating more creative interactive spaces for students and youth of both countries, thereby strengthening understanding, friendship, and bonds between Vietnam and Indonesia.
The visit to congratulate on the Indonesian Independence Day continues to demonstrate the cohesion between training, research, and people-to-people diplomacy, while contributing to cultivating the friendship between Vietnam and Indonesia in particular and solidarity within the ASEAN Community in general.
